Protecting business intangible assets

We advise companies, shareholders, and executives on the protection, registration, and enforcement of intellectual property assets.

RRQB’s Intellectual Property practice is designed to safeguard the value behind trademarks, patents, copyrights, and other intangible assets that strengthen a company’s differentiation, market position, and growth.

Our role is not limited to securing registrations. We help build the legal framework needed to protect, leverage, and, when necessary, defend the assets that represent a company’s investment, identity, and competitive advantage.
What sets RRQB apart

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AS A STRATEGIC ASSET

RRQB’s intellectual property counsel is grounded in a simple premise: intangible assets create value only when they are properly protected, structured, and defended. We advise clients with a perspective that combines technical rigor, commercial judgment, and a clear understanding of the role these assets play in the company’s broader strategy.

We step in when the business needs to protect, register, or defend intangible assets that have a direct impact on its operations, differentiation, and growth potential. The value of this practice is not limited to managing registrations. It lies in doing so with a strategic logic that helps clients protect what sustains their competitive position.

This requires understanding the business, identifying the assets that matter most, and translating legal protection into a practical structure for the use, commercialization, and defense of intellectual property.

A civil or commercial dispute cannot be understood from the case file alone. It requires understanding the business behind it to define the procedural path that best protects the company’s interests.

Litigation is not won by arguments alone. It is won by understanding what is at stake for the company, which positions can be sustained, and what must be conceded to protect what truly matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What types of issues does RRQB's intellectual property practice address?

RRQB's IP practice advises companies on the protection and defense of trademarks, patents, utility models, industrial designs, copyrights and other intangible assets. This includes everything from preventive advice and registration, to representation in litigation and arbitration arising from oppositions, annulments, breaches or contractual disputes.

2. Is it only relevant for large companies or with a lot of products?

No. Any company that has a brand, a differentiated product, its own process or creative content has intellectual property assets that should be protected. The difference is not in size, but in how structured the protection is against the value that these assets represent to the business.

3. Can RRQB register trademarks and patents in other countries?

Yes. RRQB advises on international protection strategies through Madrid systems, PCT and direct registrations in specific jurisdictions, coordinating with foreign correspondents when the matter requires it.

4. What can be registered as a copyright?

Literary, artistic, musical, photographic and audiovisual works, as well as software, manuals, digital content, databases and other creative assets. The registration is not what creates the right, but it does reinforce the proof of ownership and facilitates its defense against unauthorized uses.

5. When is preventive advice appropriate instead of immediate registration?

When the company is not yet clear about what assets to protect, in which jurisdictions, with what priorities or under what figure. Preventive counseling helps to sort out those decisions before starting records that may later become incomplete or misaligned with the business strategy.

6. Does the practice also address intellectual property disputes?

Yes. RRQB represents companies in oppositions, annulments, infractions, interim measures and disputes arising from licenses or franchises, both in administrative and judicial headquarters, and in national and international arbitration.

7. When should you approach earlier and not later?

When a company is about to launch a brand, a product, a service or a new business model. Also, when you are going to enter a new geography, you are going to receive an investment or you are going to enter into relevant contracts with third parties. In all of these cases, anticipating IP protection is often much cheaper and more effective than correcting it later.

8. How to start a conversation with RRQB's intellectual property department?

Through the site's contact channels. Based on a first review of the context, RRQB can identify key assets, identify the main risks and define the most appropriate support route for the company.
